oh, sweet jesus.

So I’m in the process of writing a gentle reminder to The Daily News that this ad right here is some certified bullshit. 

This is what I have so far. 

Good Morning, 

I just saw the Ad billboard at the PATCO station at the 15-16th and Locust stop. The billboard depicts a black woman pulling her glasses down her nose and the copy reads “All the attitude you can handle, Girlfriend.” 

I find this ad to be exceptionally offensive. It perpetuates the stereotype of the “black woman with attitude”. Perhaps it was meant to be cute and tongue- in- cheek, but its not. I’m sure there are other ways to advertise the new “edge” of your paper besides capitalizing on popular misconceptions about black women . 

I kindly request that this billboard and all others like it are removed and replaced with more appropriate and less insensitive ads for your paper.
